One hundred and twenty seven years after it was founded in 1887, Raffles has maintained its brand of high end luxury and exclusivity. Its stories past and brilliant future is alive and well at Raffles Residence Makati. The Raffles Tower in Makati, houses the Fairmont Makati, the Raffles all-suite hotel and the Raffles Residences, all of which have recently gained accolades as the best Hotel Architecture Design at the Philippine Property Awards.
Our challenge for creating the corporate signage for one of the most famous names in the hospitality industry, was to maximise the visual impact, especially when it sits on top of the 30th storey. The new landmark high-level building sign for the 5 star Raffles Hotel and Residences is certainly a stand out addition to the Makati Skyline.
The manufacture and installation of The Raffles high- level illuminated sign was an enormous task, equalled by the enormity of the logo and letters.
The hot dipped galvanised mounting frames were overlaid with a massive perforated aluminium background screen 4.25 meters x 23.90 meters. The 2.294 meter letters were aluminium returns with opal white acrylic faces, fitted to the aluminium screen.
Structural fixings were designed and engineered to withstand frequent typhoon and high wind forces whilst having minimal impact on the building structure.
The sign logo and letters were illuminated with 1,600 environmentally friendly ASTech LED’s with 160 degree viewing angle, making them clearly visible at night. This was an approximate total power load of 1950 watts of power consumption with 6 amps of current draw. Power savings of approximately 85% were achieved when compared with an equivalent fluoro light system.
ASTech LED’s delivered great savings on power consumption, cost savings on cabling infrastructure due to the lower current draw and better for the environment over the operational life of the Raffles Hotel and Residences LED sign.
